Snow&#8217;s essay of 50 years ago on &#8220;two cultures&#8221; has <a href="http://2020science.org/2009/05/06/cultural-smokescreens/">formed a smokescreen</a> that masks living  in a world divided into the rich and the poor, where science and technology are increasingly able to bridge this divide, but don&#8217;t.</p>
